Kareena Kapoor, a K3G fan, never anticipated Poo’s popularity: Only followed KJo’s lead

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan shared her thoughts on the enduring appeal of her iconic characters like Poo (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham) and Geet (Jab We Met) and her love for cinema. When asked about the sheer volume of her work, Kareena remarked, “After a point, you just lose count of the films you are doing.”
One film that holds a special place in her heart is Karan Johar’s 2001 film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. “I am a fan of that film because I love the idea of family, tradition, and the warmth it has. That’s why I just love the film,” she said while speaking at a PVR event in Mumbai.
The discussion then turned to her memorable characters, Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Geet from Jab We Met, both of whom have become cultural touchstones over the years.

Reflecting on Poo, Kareena admitted, “When we were doing Poo, I was just following Karan’s instructions. I knew it was a super fun character, but no one really thought that 25 years later, you would still have characters based around who are like her. That was never really the intention. It just happened.”
Kareena also shared insights into her experience filming Jab We Met, revealing how it unexpectedly outshone Tashan, a film she was shooting simultaneously.
“I was shooting Tashan simultaneously, which had big names like Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan. I thought Tashan was going to be amazing; I was focusing on my body for it, thinking it would be my action film. But when Jab We Met released, people loved it more than Tashan.”
With a smile, she concluded, “So, there was no real plan. Magic just happens.”
Kareena was recently seen in Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders. The film, also starring chef Ranveer Brar, was released in theaters on September 13.
