Aphex 230 Rev. J preamp/master voice 1-RU vocal channel tested

Description

Some scuffs and wear and tear, but very good overall, sounds great, functions normally. More people are grabbing this as a go-to microphone preamp every day. This box has the Aural Exciter and Big Bottom Aphex staples, their flavor of parametric EQ (all in one switchable section), plus a compressor, gate, de-esser; phase, polarity, phantom power options and more.
The preamp tube is a '60s GE/Hammond 12AU7A. If this proves to be too much, switch it out for the lower gain factor of a 12AT7. Some of the settings on this particular box are indeed aggressive, perhaps owing to the tube.
no power cord included, but it takes the typical IEC 3-conductor cord.
digital audio section/word clock were not tested.
some typical scuffs, wear and tear, dust and finger marks; see photos for cosmetic condition.
all lamps appear to work normally.
rack ears are included but are removed to help prevent damage in transit. I have seen a number of these boxes with trashed ears and damaged sides/faces.
the release clip for the XLR microphone cord input has broken away, meaning the connector gets stuck easily, and some are even more challenging to remove than others. I would not advise connecting a cable without replacing the jack or at least knowing how to trip the remains of the clip inside the assembly.
