This is a REAL tube preamp.
Full voltage and not packed with a bunch of opamps that are doing most of the work.
This has loads of characrter.
It reminds me of what I love about really clean tube bass/guitar preamps
(alembic F2b etc) it is super clean and yet has that tube spatial field; the BIGness.
I'm using this with a hi end SDC to record acoustic guitars
and I love it in that app, (guitars should go thru tubes dammit ;-)
It is also great for vocals and anything else where you want to add character.
but I think as an instrument preamp it excels due to the spatial quality.
This is not a "warming" preamp, tubes have a different smoother character to
the hi end but quality tube preamps do not lack hi end unlike all the cheap ART etc
tube preamps that advertise they "warm" the sound (more like darken...)
Tube "warming" is a BS term and totally incorrect for what good tube pre's do.
This has plenty of smooth top end and some edge in the upper mids when pushed.
This is a very good thing.
This is a USA small co build, it is very HI quality construction.
I am including internal pics and if you know about this stuff you can tell
how well made it is.
It is loaded with a JJ with low hours on it.
Changing my studio up a bit and switching to a racked unit so I am reluctantly
making this available.  Since it is not well known it is verrrry affordable when
compared to other tube preamp options!
