ean Marin, whose real name is Yves Morvan, is a French journalist and resistant, born in Douarnenez on February 24, 1909 and died in Paris on June 3, 1995. He was notably the president of Agence France-Presse from 1954 to 1975.
He joined the Resistance in June 1940 when he was a correspondent for the Havas agency in London for a year.
He will be, until 1943, one of the voices of free France on the antenna of the BBC, in the famous program listened to clandestinely on the other side of the Channel, "The French speak to the French". In 1944, he joined the second armored division of Marshal Leclerc, who liberated Paris on August 25. After taking Rennes, he was responsible for restarting Radio Bretagne and was appointed director by General de Gaulle. He also participated in the birth of the daily Ouest-France in succession from L'Ouest-Éclair.

, he arrived at AFP as general manager. Jean Marin, one of the architects of the statute which gives autonomy to AFP (law of January 10, 1957), was elected president of the Agency in 1957. Embodying AFP's spirit of independence and much appreciated for his journalistic skills, he was re-elected every three years until 1975. He then left journalism to work in advertising, with Publicis, TVCS and then Havas.
