Ten Facsimile Newspapers: 9 Civil War Events; 1 1800 Ulster County Gazette

$ 42.24

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

Offered here are ten
facsimile
newspapers.  I am unsure when they were produced but the newspapers do not appear to be on wood pulp paper, but rather some type of rag paper, possibly placing them in the later 19th century.  Or perhaps around the time of the events of 1876.
The Ulster County Gazette is dated January 4, 1800 and was the funerary edition after George Washington's death with the black outlined columns of print.  Again, this is a
facsimile
.
The New York Times
facsimile
newspapers each report upon a significant event in the course of the Civil War and are of the following dates:
April 15, 1861---Fort Sumter falls
September 23, 1862---Emancipation Proclamation
July 6, 1863---Report on the Union Victory at Gettysburg
July 16, 1863---Report on the draft riots in New York City
November 20, 1863---Delivery of the Gettysburg Address, reprinted in full
September 3, 1864---Fall of Atlanta to Sherman
November 9, 1864---Re-election of Lincoln
April 10, 1865---Union Victory reported
April 14, 1865---Surrender of Lee at Appomattox
These items are from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.  Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions".  In this case, the newspapers are, of course,
facsimile reproductions
.  For example, offered maps are of the period.  Please check my other listings for additional items of interest.  I will combine shipping.
